The Youth Ministry of First Baptist Church Collinsville exists to LOVE God, SERVE others, TELL others about Jesus, GROW to be like Jesus, and to have FUN with one another. We start our week out with Sunday School on Sunday mornings at 9:45 in the Lighthouse (Room 301), on the top floor of the church (click here to view the church layout). From 9:45-10:00 all youth, middle and high school, meet in the common room to hang out and have Mrs. Betty’s amazing muffins. At 10:00 we split into different class rooms. Middle school youth have their own class room with teachers Billy & Carrie Pinnix. The high school youth go to a separate room with Jeremy Craven and Joey Lee. After Sunday School, we all attend the church worship service. On Sunday nights we have Drama from 5:00-6:00. This is a new ministry the youth are starting up and we are very excited about the possibilities it will offer us to share our faith in a new way! Drama will be led by Carrie Pinnix & Michelle Lee. After Drama, we have our “Get Real” discussion time from 6:00-7:00 led by Stacy Craven. We use this time to discuss real life scenarios and statistics that affect our everyday faith-walk. We also meet weekly on Wednesday evenings for Praise and Worship and Preaching. Youth can feel free to come at 6:00 at eat with the church family during the Wednesday night meal in the social hall or they can go straight to the Lighthouse to hang out. This is a great time for introducing our friends to the church and to Jesus. We start P&W at 6:45 and Joey Lee begins preaching at 7:15. Our Wednesday night meetings are over at 8:00. In addition to our regular weekly meetings, we also get together monthly for fun outreach activities. Some activities are designed to simply get together, hang out and have fun. Other activities are designed for service and worship. We do a local service project the first Saturday of each month. We designate this time to serve a church member or member of the community in need of assistance. Since starting our monthly service project, we have cleaned yards, painted walls, installed handicapped ramps and handrails. We also have annual Father/Son and Mother/Daughter retreats, attend Youth Camp, do mission work, have a Youth VBS, go camping, skiing, etc. We strive to use The Great Commission, Matthew 28:18-20 as our focus in everything we do: "Then Jesus came to them and said, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.'" Reminding each other we are all commanded to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ and that God is always with us.
