Bible Study Conference: "Making the Bible Come Alive" - An intro to inductive Bible study with David Lawson of Precept Ministries International. Two sessions will be offered: Saturday, Sept. 27, 8:30 - 11:30 AM (with light refreshments) and Sunday, Sept. 28, 2 - 4 PM. Cost for materials is $5 per person. This conference will provide tools to help you learn how to discover God's truth for yourself through observation, interpretation, and application. Prayer Room: We hope to have our new prayer room operational by the end of September. At that time, you will be able to call at anytime with prayer concerns. More information on this will be coming soon! Prayer Challenge: Pray together every Thursday from 12 noon to 12:30 PM. Per a recommendation from the National Day of Prayer Task Force, we will have the sanctuary open every Thursday from 12 to 12:30 from June 5 through the election in November for those of you who would like to come to the church to pray for our nation's future leaders. Weekday Early Education Program at the First Baptist Church of Collinsville has openings for children ages 2½ to 4 years old for the 2008-2009 school year. Two day and four day programs available. News Archive: FBCC will hold a Back-To-School Fair for preschoolers through 5th graders on Saturday, September 6, from 11 AM until 1 PM at the church. Children can play games to win free school supplies, then enjoy a hot dog lunch and a snow cone. Children must be accompanied by a parent. Parents will be able to register to win one of four free grocery gift cards to be given away about every half-hour. (You must be present to win!) Items that are needed include Crayola Crayons (24 pack or large 8 pack), Elmer's glue sticks, wide or college ruled notebook paper, #2 pencils, large pink erasers, pencil cap erasers, 1 and 3 subject composition notebooks, Clorox wipes, tissues, 32 oz. hand sanitizer, packs of index cards, and pocket folders. Five boxes will be labeled and placed in the foyer area of the church for you to place your items in. Thank you very much for your help! Website Updates: As of Saturday, August 2, a number of updates/additions have been made on the website. These include the addition of pictures of all our staff members on the Staff page, updates to the news and calendar pages (the calendar is now available on the website through the end of 2008), the addition of photos of the 4th floor renovation, and several other minor changes. New Pastor Called: On Sunday, November 4, we decided by a vote of 274 to 3 to call Rev. Larry Cheek as our new pastor. His service to our church will begin on January 1, 2008. Committee Night will be held Sunday, August 19, beginning at 6 PM. This meeting is for all members of committees serving for the 2007-08 year. Notices will be mailed to committee members regarding particular committee meeting times and locations. National Night Out: First Baptist Church of Collinsville will host the National Night Out for our district. The event will take place Tuesday, August 7, from 6-8 PM in the picnic shelter below the church building. Everyone in the community is invited to come! Various churches in the community will provide entertainment, and food will be provided as well. Vacation Bible School, Game Day Central: July 22nd-26th, 6:15-8:30 PM, ages 4 years through 6th grade. We will also have an adult class! Invite a friend to VBS for a home run of fun, with music, Bible lessons, crafts, games, and lots more! (Special Needs VBS will be held on Saturday, July 28, from 11 AM until 2 PM.) VBS Game Day Kickoff: Bring your family and join us for a tailgate party and Mustangs baseball game at Hooker Field on Saturday, July 21 at 7 PM in the grass field parking area. We will hand out VBS flyers at the game to invite others to our VBS. You can pre-register for tickets beginning July 8 at the VBS registration table located in the church vestibule or by signing up on the bulletin board notice located near the church office. We have 100 tickets available! Everyone is encouraged to join us for this exciting time of outreach and fellowship. Children's Day Camp: July 9th-13th from 10:00 AM until 2:30 PM for 1st-6th graders. Activities will include music, drama, Bible study, and lots of fun and games! Invite a friend and join us for a week of summertime fun! Children will need to bring a bag lunch.
